Shishiku Gardens, Kyoto, Japan part II
And the man-made structures of this beautiful place
To photograph these majestic buildings, I am isolating details that otherwise would be lost in a wider image.
Above, at the top. One of the buildings at the edge of the garden with early fall foliage blooming in the foreground. I was hoping for more autumn colors. It was a few weeks too early for fall.
Below, top. As you may know, one of my favorite photography tricks is to use multiple images to create a single panorama image. In this case, the image is verticle and was created using five separate exposures. This works better than the "Pano" mode on the camera, giving me more control over the finished product.
Below, bottom. This doorway exemplifies how opposing ideas work in Japanese gardens. The symmetry of the detailed woodwork spans side to side and top to bottom. The grain and gentle tonality of the wood softens the brute force of the design symmetry. Finally, the sunlight broken by tree limbs helps the wood grain glow. This is the masterful work of talented woodworkers and craftspeople.
A 13 level stone pagoda.
The craftsmanship of the buildings is stupendous.
