Osaka Streets

Osaka Streets

There is a story here, I just don't know what it is

A coffee shop in the Osaka Sinsekai mall

Ya know, some weeks, I just don't have the words to go with my photos. I was all excited to tell you about the time we spent wandering the streets of Osaka, Japan. And it was exciting - the Yakuza areas, the Sinsekai mall, and Dotonbori with the running man sign. It was all so much fun!

The thing is, I'm pooped out. And the words to tell a story aren't in me today. I have three photos that were a lot of fun to create, and I do want to share those with you. So, here you go.

At the top. This coffee shop in the Sinsekai mall made for a compelling street photo. Even though it has an "open" sign smack-dab in the center of things, nobody was around. It is an eclectic shop with fancy coffee accessories and random items like necklaces and nic-nacks.
Below, top. Pivoting to my right, I found this scene with red lanterns along the mall's ceiling. The mom and her daughter walking through the frame adds to the photo. Street photography isn't staged, and that's the beauty of it. It's about people out in public living their lives in an authentic way.
Below, bottom. This building seems slated for demolition, judging by the tape on the windows. It shows the chaos of a city like Osaka. The wires running in front of the building, the broken security gate, and the rusting panels. It's not a pretty picture, but I think that is what makes it so compelling.
